Athletic Director
I have been an elementary and middle school teacher for over 20 years, 11 of which were in the public school setting. I have taught Kindergarten through 8th grade, self-contained, and departmentalized. Currently, I am the SJS Athletic Director. My experience with a wide range of age groups allows me to understand the connection between kids and athletics on many levels.
I attended Appalachian State University in Boone, NC, for two years and then transferred to the University of Georgia where I received two degrees, a Bachelor of Journalism and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. My journalism focus was Broadcast Journalism, with an emphasis on sports, so I tend to see myself as a broadcaster for the student athlete population and the SJS program. I am certain my athletes would agree with that! I have also coached elementary, middle, and high school basketball, and am a firm believer in the positive connection sports brings to learning in the classroom.
I have two grown children of my own, Zach and Anna, both graduates of St. Joseph. Outside of spending a lot of time in gyms coaching and watching athletes compete, I also enjoy spending time with my kids, hanging out with friends and family, and just relaxing, especially on a beach or by a lake!
