Middle School Science and Social Studies & Middle School Coordinator

My philosophy focuses on teaching as an art as well as a science. My hope is to engage my students in a variety of ways to enhance and make them want to discover learning. My hope is that they will gain a lifelong love of learning after being in my class. Seeing is believing and sometimes science is hard to “see” but I love the challenge to find a way to help all my students understand.

Currently, I am the 8th Grade Homeroom teacher and Middle School Coordinator.  I am teaching Middle School Science and Social Studies. This is my 15th year teaching at St. Joseph and my 27th year teaching in Catholic Schools. I have a bachelor's degree in Elementary and Middle School Education with a Math and Science emphasis from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, CO.

Before coming to SJS in 2004, I taught for 12 years at St. John the Evangelist Catholic School in Loveland, Colorado.  I have taught a little bit of everything in my middle school years but enjoy teaching science the most. My husband, Dave and I moved our family to Georgia in 2004 from our roots in Colorado.  Dave runs a community health center with numerous offices throughout NE Georgia.  We have been members of St. Joseph Catholic Church since arriving in Georgia. We are the proud parents of two children, Garrett (25) and Kayla (22) who were both SJS graduates and products of Catholic Education. Garrett graduated from UGA with a Food Science major in December of 2015 and will be graduating with his Masters in Poultry Science from UGA in December 2018. Kayla is a senior in the at Augusta University majoring in Chemistry graduating in May of 2019.  This fall she will be applying to Pharmacy Schools. As a family, we enjoy being together, doing things outdoors, and going to the beach.
