Music

The goal of the elementary music curriculum at St. Joseph Catholic Parish School is to assist the students in developing not only their knowledge and appreciation of music, but also a love for it. Students gain knowledge of the importance and function of instrumental, vocal, and liturgical music through exploring the subject matter presented in class and then putting it into practice. Students learn about music theory and music history, all while developing their listening and sight-reading skills and applying them to singing and the use of various musical instruments. Students are able to cultivate what they have learned into their academics and other areas of interest. Even though curriculum is the driving force of music education, music itself provides an outlet for personal creativity and is a means to share our faith and God's love with the world around us.
