Technology

The goal of the technology program at St. Joseph Catholic School is to enhance student learning using technology, and inspire our students to be lifelong learners and global thinkers.  Our students learn tools for exploration and personal expression and are challenged through group and individual projects.  Our students use critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills in a variety of applications and with multiple technologies.

Our students learn digital citizenship and the rights, responsibilities and opportunities of working in a digital world. Our students are taught to use technology in a positive, safe and ethical way influenced by their faith.

Our STREAM lab provides opportunities to expose our students to the design process. The students have hands-on experiences that allow them to create projects, problem solve and collaborate with classmates in our school and the broader community. The lab is open to students of all grade levels.

St. Joseph Catholic School uses a wide-range of technology to expose our students to many devices, operating systems, and applications.  We use iPads, Chromebooks, and Macbooks. We are a Google Workspace for Education School and all of our students use Google Apps.

Rising 6th Grade and New Middle School Students - Leased Chromebooks
St. Joseph Catholic School has a Chromebook lease program! Students in 6th grade and new middle school students lease a Chromebook from the school. The Chromebook is leased to the student for their middle school years (6th-8th grade). The Chromebook remains at school in a cart and is used by the students in all of their classes.

The cost of the Chromebook, the Google Device Management License, and the 3 years of accidental damage protection (ADP) is added as an additional fee for the school year. After 6th grade, no other lease payments are necessary. The student’s new Chromebook is given to them at the beginning of the school year. The students use the same Chromebook for 6th-8th grade. Upon graduation, the student may take the Chromebook with them or donate it back to the school and the parent(s) will receive a tax donation letter from the school. If the student leaves the school prior to graduation and the Chromebook is paid in full, the student may take the Chromebook with them or donate it back to the school.

*For the 2024-2025 school year, St. Joseph will provide devices to 6th graders and new middle school students
at a discounted lease price, but the devices will remain property of St. Joseph Catholic Parish School.
