Lower School Spanish

We are proud to offer a cumulative Spanish curriculum in our Lower School. Students in Pre-K through 5th grade attend Spanish class four days per week, emphasizing real communicative language. We offer a variety of interactive instructional methods while allowing students to develop skills in the areas of reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Students are exposed to aspects of the Hispanic culture in order to acquire a better understanding of the various cultures within the Spanish-speaking world. Native Spanish speakers are offered the opportunity to enrich the Spanish classroom with their own cultural background while working to continue improving their reading and writing skills. Students are expected and encouraged to use Spanish during class as well as outside of school in order to become proficient in the target language. Additionally, students make connections to the Catholic Faith within the various Spanish units as well as while learning about Catholic traditions within the Hispanic culture.
