Science

The Middle School Science curriculum models the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). These standards are rooted around the concepts of the text A Framework for K-12 Science Education: Practices, Crosscutting Concepts, and Core Ideas. Through the core ideas, crosscutting concepts, and science and engineering practices students become engaged and play an active role in science lessons. The Archdiocese incorporated additional standards into the curriculum that focus on God creating the world. These standards cut across all grades and allow the teacher to weave these concepts into the appropriate lessons which support our Catholic identity.

The Science curriculum also provides students with a basic knowledge of science as it relates to their own experiences and the world around them. Students utilize a hands-on, inquiry-based science program that integrates and develops basic knowledge, investigative experience, and curiosity through student involvement. Our middle school students have the added benefit of laboratory experience in science.
